The “I Have Honor” bloc, which is running in the snap parliamentary elections in Armenia, has issued a statement on the course of the elections.

The statement reads as follows: “The “I Have Honor” bloc records the fact that the ad-hoc authorities have carried out the dishonorable act of repressing the candidates and supporters of the leading political forces, namely the “I Have Honor” bloc, especially over the past 48 hours.

The authorities have conducted blatantly unlawful searches and illegally detained candidates and supporters, and courts have already annulled most of the searches and detentions.

As of 3:45pm we are mainly receiving several reports from polling stations in the provinces that officials are guiding and repressing on the spot. We call on all of our teammates and supporters to observe the letter of the law and continue to do their job with honor.

We particularly regret to receive information about the capitulating authorities’ repression against servicemen, starting from privates and ending with officers. All those who are undermining the lawful electoral process must not doubt that their actions will be investigated in detail and that they will be punished by full strictness of the law.

We express hope that the reports and facts presented by various polling stations and observers that the traces or marks existing on the ballot of the “I Have Honor” bloc (#6) and not provided for by law, will not become an excuse to declare those ballots as invalid. All this will also be investigated after the elections.

We call on all citizens to not be afraid of anything and go to the polling stations to cast their votes before 8pm today. The sovereignty of Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), border security, the restoration of our national solidarity and the preservation of national identity depends on this election.

We call the attention of international and local observation missions to these facts and are willing to provide necessary assistance.”
