The Ethiopian authorities have not ruled out that they will ask Russia for technical support in monitoring the water level in the Blue Nile because of the claims related to the dam, Ethiopian Ambassador to Russia Alemayehu Tegenu told RIA Novosti. The issue is about the satellite images, the claims are made by Sudan and Egypt.

African Ethiopia has been implementing the "Revival" dam project since 2012. Its launch, according to experts, will lead to water shortages in Sudan and Egypt, located downstream, reports "Kommersant". https://www.kommersant.ru/

According to Tegenu, the third stage of filling the dam was recently completed, and the second turbine began generating electricity. "What's most interesting is that it had no effect on downstream countries. On the contrary, there was flooding in Sudan. This shows that the dam has no effect on Sudan and Egypt," the ambassador said.

Earlier, the Russian side offered to provide satellite images of the river flooding in different seasons to dismiss possible claims of Khartoum and Cairo, RIA Novosti reports. Alemayehu Tegenu said Ethiopia would consider this in the future. "Ethiopia appreciates these proposals, and we will certainly turn to Russia if necessary," Tegenu said. Earlier, the ambassador said that the filling of the dam is planned to be completed by the end of 2023.
