Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Erdogan will discuss a grain deal, including Russian food supplies.

Their talk will take place on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Samarkand, said Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reported.

"A talk between Putin and Erdogan is possible and necessary and is already being prepared, which we expect to take place in Samarkand. We see that the Istanbul agreements are being implemented on grain. We see that this realization does not bring any benefits to the poor countries, because only two vessels with the cargo of food arrived in these poor countries," he told reporters.

Peskov noted that "this is the first topic that, of course, needs to be discussed."

"And of course, this is the topic of getting Russian food into international markets," Peskov added.

The SCO summit will be held in Samarkand on September 15-16.
