YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: Collective West demands from [PM] Nikol Pashinyan to sign the peace agreement [with Azerbaijan] before the end of the year. According to our source, the matter was discussed also on October 6, in Prague, behind closed doors.

There are reports that [Azerbaijani president] Aliyev proposed to sign the agreement on November 9. 2 years ago, on the same day, the capitulation declaration was signed after the war; now he wants to repeat his victory.

Pashinyan opposed [to this proposal], saying that that day has a bad meaning for the Armenian people, people may assume that the peace agreement will not open new doors for us—as he is trying to convince—, but that it will be the second capitulation.

Apart from that, Nikol Pashinyan raised the matter of the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the RA sovereign territory, saying that he will not sign an agreement until the troops withdraw from the RA territory. And Azerbaijan has not lost its appetite to get a corridor through [Armenia’s] Meghri [city], and even the authorities’ circles do not rule out the risk of a new escalation.
