An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 hit the southeast of the Loyalty Islands in the French territory of New Caledonia on Saturday, European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reports.
The source of the earthquake lay at the depth of 30 km.
No danger of a tsunami was reported.
