The Azerbaijani president demands to disarm the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Defense Army and open the "Zangezur corridor." Ilham Aliyev presented his demands and territorial ambitions towards Armenia in Azerbaijani capital Baku, during the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement.

"Shortly after the end of the [Karabakh] conflict, Azerbaijan presented five basic principles for signing peace treaty with Armenia based on the mutual recognition of each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Although Armenia had to recognize Karabakh as a part of Azerbaijan, there are still remnants of Armenian armed forces in the territories of Azerbaijan where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily deployed," Aliyev said at the aforesaid event, Azerbaijani media reported.

"Armenian military and paramilitary elements on the ground should be disarmed and demobilized," the Azerbaijani president added.

In addition, he stated that "Armenia also impedes the opening of Zangazur [(Zangezur)] corridor [which plans to connect the main part of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.] The Zangazur corridor is another commitment of Armenia deriving from the capitulation act it signed on 10 November 2020 and therefore, should be implemented.”
