Today, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke again on the phone with the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, Press Service of the German government reports.

According to the report, the focus was on the situation in [Artsakh] Nagorno-Karabakh and the issue of providing urgent humanitarian assistance to the local population, including through the [Berdzor] Lachin Corridor.

The Chancellor expressed his opposition to the use of military force.

He stressed that the federal government of Germany is committed to a negotiated solution and lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“The efforts of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, have the full support of the federal government.

For a sustainable resolution of the conflict, it is necessary to guarantee the rights and security of the population of Karabakh. Transparent humanitarian assistance and the security of the people of Karabakh are now the responsibility of Azerbaijan.

During the conversation, the Chancellor also emphasized the importance of respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia.

The Federal Chancellor and the Prime Minister of Armenia agreed to continue the exchange of views and maintain close contact,” the statement said.
