The US president may no longer be able to use his power to waiver Section 907 of the FREEDOM Support Act.

The US Senate has voted in favor of revoking that power of the president.

Section 907 of the FREEDOM Support Act which passed in 1992 prohibits any direct US government assistance to the government of Azerbaijan.

In 2001, however, the US Senate passed an amendment authorizing the US President to issue an annual Section 907 waiver. But now the US president can no longer use this power.
