The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, George Gerapetritis, made a statement to the Greek public television, ERT, and journalist Katerina Frisa at the end of his official visit to Armenia Wednesday, informs the Armenian embassy in Greece.

"Today I had the opportunity to visit Armenia and meet with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Secretary of the Security Council. At the same time, I visited the diplomatic representation of Greece in Yerevan. Greece has historical ties with Armenia, ties with centuries of history.

"It is a friendly country for us. Greece, in the context of this eternal friendship, always takes care to provide the necessary solidarity and security to Armenia. Especially today, at a time when territorial integrity is under serious pressure due to the events taking place in the South Caucasus.

"It is especially important, both as a symbol and as providing good services to Armenia on behalf of Greece, to help our friendly and ally country on all international platforms—in the European Union, as well as in UNESCO—for the preservation of world cultural heritage, and where required: to give a solution that will be fair and stable and will confirm the principles of the UN charter on territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, as well as to avoid any hostile action.

"It is fundamental for the Greek government, the Greek state, to provide assistance to anyone who is under protection from any kind of aggression," the aforesaid statement said.
