Independent candidate Boris Nadezhdin has collected 150,000 signatures of voters to be nominated as a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections of Russia. This information was posted on Nadezhdin's official website.

At the time of posting of this news, judging by the report, 158,006 people supported Nadezhdin's nomination. The respective collection of signatures continues.

In order to run for the President of Russia, respective signatures in more than half of the regions of the country need to be collected, and the number of these signatures from one region shall not exceed 2,500.

Nadezhdin's team announced that they plan to submit 2,500 signatures each from 40 regions to the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia. According to the report, the required amount was collected in more than 20 regions.

Boris Nadezhdin is running in the elections from the Civic Initiative party. The politician had announced his candidacy in late 2023.

Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president, said on Wednesday that the Kremlin "does not consider Nadezhdin a challenger" of President Vladimir Putin.
