The fifth-generation KAAN fighter jet of Turkey has conducted its maiden test flight, TRT reported.

The flight was successful. Initially, it was planned at the end of December last year, but it was postponed due to the need to conduct ground tests.

The plane took off from the Murted airbase near the Turkish capital of Ankara, and returned to the airbase after a short test flight.

No official statement has been made yet, but some Turkish politicians have already gone on social media and congratulated on this occasion.

This fighter jet has been manufactured in Turkey since 2017 by the Turkish Aerospace Industries, and within the framework of the national combat aircraft project. Its serial production is planned to begin in 2028.

The Turkish authorities have stated that the KAAN will surpass the American F-35 fighter jet in terms of tactical and technical features and will later replace the F-16s of the Turkish Air Force.
