This morning we talked about the Mistral short-range missiles. French Minister for the Armed Forces, Sebastien Lecornu, stated this in a joint press briefing with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan in Yerevan on Friday.

According to Lecornu, it is very easy to train personnel to use these missiles.

"And we have already had discussions that will enable us [i.e. France] to offer this level of protection. For the second level of protection, we will offer mid-level [i.e. mid-range] measures. But there is also the matter of production. Soon there will be deliveries of GM 200 radars in Armenia. There are also more serious technologies.

Every time we talk about defensive weapons. The only way not to use air defense is to have no one attack anyone. This is a very important domain for our cooperation. Our priority is to help Armenia protect [its] civilians if they become victims of an attack.

To the extent that we develop our defense base, it reflects the possibility of cooperation with Armenia. This will enable to offer new weapons very quickly," stressed the French defense minister.
