The plane carrying Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made an emergency landing in Saint Petersburg, Russia after failing to receive permission to land in Moscow.

The plane circled for about an hour over Russia’s Tver Region, waiting for an opportunity to land, but was eventually redirected to Pulkovo Airport of Saint Petersburg, reports Moskovsky Komsomolets daily.

This disruption in air traffic was caused by one of the largest recent drone attacks on the Moscow Region.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense forces shot down 32 drones in the Moscow Region overnight.

Local residents said explosions were heard.
