Turkey’s Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin, Transport and Telecommunication Minister Binali Yildirim, and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek visited Vakif (Vakifli), Turkey’s sole Armenian village remaining after the Genocide.

During their visit to the village located at the skirts of Mount Musa, the three Turkish ministers were accompanied by the Governor of Hatay Province, three MPs from Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), and Vice-President of the Turkish Premier League’s Fenerbahce football club.

The Finance Minister stated that there is tolerance in Turkey, and everyone in the country lives in peace and brotherhood, irrespective of the citizens’ religious or ethnic belonging.

Vakif village has a population of 135 which, however, was over 180 ten years ago. The village’s last wedding was held six years ago, and the last birth was registered three years ago.
