YEREVAN. – Along the lines of the meeting of the FMs of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) states—which was held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on Wednesday and Thursday—Armenia’s FM Edward Nalbandian held fourteen bilateral meetings with his counterparts from a variety of countries, MFA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

During the meeting between Nalbandian and the Egyptian FM Mohamed Kamel Amr, they reflected on the steps toward improving Armenian-Egyptian collaboration. They also exchanged views on the Karabakh peace process.   

Edward Nalbandian also met with the Palestinian FM Riyad Al-Maliki, during which they exchanged views on the avenues toward bettering Armenian-Palestinian relations.  

During Nalbandian’s meeting with Cameroon’s FM Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo, they agreed on accrediting ambassadors to one another’s capital cities, and studying the ways for developing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation within international organizations.

During Armenian FM’s meeting with his Indonesian colleague Marty Natalegawa, they discussed the holding of consultations between the two MFAs, and establishments of a legal and contractual domain. Also, Nalbandian briefed Natalegawa on the latest developments in the Karabakh peace process. 

The meeting between Nalbandian and New Zealand’s FM Murray McCully was devoted to cooperation within international organizations. Also, McCully invited his Armenian counterpart to Wellington.    

Edward Nalbandian’s next meeting was with Iraq’s FM Hoshyar Zebari. They discussed enhancing the political dialogue between both countries and the economic collaboration. The Iraqi FM expressed a satisfaction by the activities of Armenia’s Embassy in Baghdad, and reaffirmed the Iraqi Government’s decision to open an embassy in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan.       

During Nalbandian’s meeting with the FM of Myanmar, Wunna Maung Lwin, they discussed the formation of relations between the two countries. The ministers agreed to commence the process of establishing diplomatic ties.    

Edward Nalbandian also met with the Tunisian FM Rafik Abdessalem. The interlocutors exchanged views on enhancing political discourse, holding MFA consultations, forming a legal and contractual domain, cooperation in the tourism sector, and relaxing visa requirements.     

During Nalbandian’s meeting with the Yemeni FM Abu Bakr al-Qirbi, they discussed in detail the current processes in the Middle East. 

Armenia’s FM also met with the Australian PM’s Special Envoy Joanna Hewitt. The interlocutors reflected on the ways toward developing Armenian-Australian relations, and the cooperation within international organizations. 

During Edward Nalbandian’s meeting with Cuba’s FM, Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla, they underscored the need to take practical steps toward stimulating cooperation.  

And during Armenian FM’s meeting with his Zambian colleague, Given Lubinda, they reflected on stimulating bilateral ties.    

On Thursday evening, Edward Nalbandian left Sharm el-Sheikh and headed to Cairo, where he got together with representatives from the Egyptian-Armenian community. Armenia’s FM presented the latest developments in the country’s foreign policy, the reforms being undertaken in the Motherland, and the results of the May 6 National Assembly elections.
