YEREVAN. – The 67th Session of the UN General Assembly is continuing in New York City, and Armenia’s Ambassador to UN, Garen Nazarian, addressed the event on Tuesday.

He noted that the wounds of Azerbaijan’s aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh have not yet healed and Azerbaijan continues to preach hatred against Armenians, Armenian MFA press service informs.

The ambassador invited the UN member countries’ attention on the facts of official Baku’s hatred of Armenians, and noted that the international community is sounding an alarm with this respect. The key point of Karen Nazaryan’s address was the granting of pardon to Ramil Safarov—the Azerbaijani army officer who had killed with an axe Armenian soldier Gurgen Margaryan in Budapest back in 2004—, which runs counter to the humanitarian objectives of international law and challenges the protection of human rights.

Ambassador Nazaryan noted that the Azerbaijani president’s pardoning of the murderer is a horrifying example of impunity; it is a continuation of the ethnic crime. He added that Azerbaijan defies the UN objectives and disrupts the formation of an environment of trust in the region.

He called upon the UN and the international community to continue raising their voices of protest against this inexcusable demeanor which, disrespecting human rights and dignity, also jeopardizes regional peace and security.
