Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg will visit Azerbaijan on March 1-5, Trend News reports referring to CoE source.

Hammarberg intends to meet with Azerbaijani high ranking officials, ombudsman and political parties’ representatives.

He will familiarize himself with the situation on Azerbaijan’s fulfillment of commitments to the Council of Europe, the work and reforms performed in human rights field.

Commissioner for Human Rights is expected to issue an appropriate report that will be further introduced to the CE Committee of Ministers.

Last time Hammarberg visited Azerbaijan in early September, 2007.
