Today, Jan. 30, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev had a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul. The call was initiated by Turkish side. According to Kremlin Press service, the sides discussed Russian-Turkish cooperation issues and exchanged views on the situation in Transcaucasian region.

Gul assesed high Russia's contribution to achieving progress in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.

Both sides expressed content with joint work in Black Sea region, touched upon issues of European security, as well as Russia's initiative in drafting Treaty on European Security.

The key event of Russia-Turkey relations will be the impending meeting of Russian President to Turkey in May, agreed upon in the course of the conversation.
