According to a public opinion poll conducted by Vzglyad newspaper, Georgian citizens do not approve of Mikhail Saakshvili’s initiative, offering U.S. to use the Georgian territory for operations against Talibs in Afghanistan.

About 89.66% out of 706 respondents opposed the idea, 9.49% stood for, the rest abstained from answering.

In his recent interview with Associated Press, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili offered U.S. to use Georgian territory and transport infrastructure as a transfer station for supplying military cargo to Afghanistan.

He underlined that Georgia is ready to open up opportunities for Western warships to use Black Sea ports and allow military transport aircrafts to land in local airports for refueling.
