YEREVAN. – Along the lines of his visit to Latvia, Armenia’s Deputy FM Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Wednesday met with Latvian FM Edgars Rinkēvičs.

The parties recorded that the bilateral political discourse between the two countries has become productive, Armenian MFA press service informs. They exchanges views on several matters of mutual interest, and a special reference was made to Armenia-EU relations. 

Mnatsakanyan briefed the Latvian FM on the accomplishments of and the future courses of action in the Armenia-EU cooperation; deepening of bilateral collaboration was underscored, too.  

Subsequently, political consultations were conducted with Andrejs Pildegovičs, the Latvian MFA’s Director of Political Affairs. The parties agreed upon the 2013 cooperation agenda and, also, discussions were held with respect to multilateral and regional matters and regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.    

Also, discussions were held with the faculty of the University of Latvia, during which the Latvian party offered proposals toward cooperation in the fields of education and science.  

On the same day, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Vice-Speaker Andrejs Klementjevs of the Latvian Saeima (Parliament), during which they examined the timetable of parliamentary cooperation.

At the Saeima, Armenia’s Deputy FM also met with Chairman Ojārs Kalniņš of the Committee on Foreign Relations, and Chairman Igor Klementjev of the Latvia-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group.
