Armenian News-NEWS.am ascertained new details on the death of Ukrainian citizen, scuba diver Oleksandr Trakhtenberg, who was found dead in Armenia’s Lake Sevan.   

Trakhtenberg had come to Armenia as a guest and he stayed in Berdkunk village for several days.

“He entered the water, with scuba diver’s outfit, 40-50 meters deep, and all of a sudden he popped up like a cork. He had died before he was able to be taken out of the water,” a Berdkunk villager said.     

The Police, on the other hand, informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that a report is being prepared on the incident, an investigation is underway, and a forensic medical examination is commissioned.

In their turn, the rescuers told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the scuba diver had died in the water and, judging from his outfit and gear, he was a professional scuba diver; and solely the investigation will reveal the cause of death. 

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the dead body of a man was discovered in Armenia’s Lake Sevan on Wednesday at around 5pm. The body of Ukrainian citizen Oleksandr Trakhtenberg, 50, was found at the lakeshore area of Hayravank village. The villagers had told that they had seen the Ukrainian citizen all alone. Trakhtenberg was a scuba diver, and he was wearing a scuba diving outfit when the rescuers had removed his body from of the water.
