Armenia’s Nature Protection Minister, Aram Harutyunyan, is in Germany for an official visit on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Harutyunyan met with Peter Altmaier, the German Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. During the talk, the interlocutors discussed matters of bilateral interest.

Subsequently, the two respective ministries of Armenia and Germany signed a joint declaration on cooperation in the domain of environment protection.

Harutyunyan underscored the bilateral collaboration, and stated that the signing of this document provides the format whereby the two parties shall continue to cooperate. 

“The implementation of the Twinning Project is worth noting from the programs that are jointly carried out. We [also] reached an agreement with the German party toward implementing four more projects,” Harutyunyan stated.    

Along the lines of his trip to Germany, Armenia’s environment minister also met with senior officials from the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) of Germany, during which they discussed issues of bilateral interest.. 

In addition, Aram Harutyunyan paid a visit to the German organization that conducts integrated pollution prevention and control activities.
