YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Foreign Minister, Edward Nalbandian, on Tuesday visited the National Council (Parliament) of Austria, where he met with National Council Second President Fritz Neugebauer and members of the parliament.  

The parties discussed the avenues for developing Armenian-Austrian interaction and enhancing ties between the parliaments of both countries, and the cooperation—between the Armenian and Austrian delegations—within international organizations, Armenian MFA press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. They also made arrangements toward organizing the Austria-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group’s visit to Armenian capital city Yerevan this year.    

The interlocutors also reflected on Armenia’s presidential election that was conducted on February 18. In this context, the Austrian MPs—who were participating in this talk and who had monitored the vote as international observers—noted that the presidential election in Armenia was held in keeping with international standards.   

Upon the request of the Austrian parliament members, Nalbandian presented details with respect to the efforts by Armenia and the international community toward settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. 

The discussants also reflected on Armenia-EU cooperation, and the ongoing reforms in Armenia. 

On the same day, Edward Nalbandian gave an interview to the Austrian News Agency, and spoke about Armenia’s foreign policy and the country’s reforms.
