Armenia will observe Earth Hour 2013 on Saturday. Millions of people around the globe will unite for one hour and switch off their lights to show that they care about our living planet.

Citizens, businesses and public authorities all over the world will turn off their lights for one hour at 8:30pm local time.

Armenia will join this initiative, whose organizer is the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), in conjunction with the Ministries of Nature Protection, and Energy and Natural Resources. 

“Earth Hour” is an annual global WWF climate change initiative. The event began in Sydney in 2007, when two million people switched off their lights to show their support for action on climate change.

Last year’s Earth Hour was held from 8:30pm to 9:30pm local time on March 31 breaking records to cement itself as the largest voluntary action for the environment, with more than 6,950 cities and towns across 152 countries and territories taking part.
