Former Iranian consul in Oslo — Mohammad Reza Heydari is granted political asylum in Norway, The Norway Post reports.

Heydari resigned in January “in protest against his own government's use of violence against demonstrators in the streets”, the source says.

Before Iranian diplomat requested for political asylum, Iranian media informed that he is on vocation after completion of his mission in Oslo and will return to Iran in the near future.

However, Heydari refused to return, saying he fears for his family's safety. Thus, Norway's immigration service complied with a request.
