YEREVAN. – The Armenian State Migration Service has not yet issued the official statistics for border crossings to and from Armenia during the first four months of this year, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

“Until the beginning of this year, the service issued, in the middle of each month, the data for the arrivals in and departures from Armenia in the previous month; these figures show the emigration trends. And the fact that now these numbers are kept confidential does not speak about anything good.

Apparently, the picture is more disturbing than we expect. To note, in line with official statistics, [about] 50,000-60,000 people, or 2-3 percent of the population, leave Armenia each year without returning, ever since 2008,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
