YEREVAN. – Foreign architects can participate in an open contest for the design of Republican Square, the central square of Yerevan.

The statement issued by Yerevan municipality said they had been approached by a number of foreign architects asking to remove the obligatory citizenship from the conditions of a contest.

Besides, the deadline was slated for October 15 instead of August 29.

However, municipality officials’ decision to change the design of the square was not supported by all citizens of the capital.
