YEREVAN. – Armenia has to build a second unit of Yerevan thermal power plant for the Iranian gas, chairman Vazgen Safaryan of the Union of Domestic Goods Producers said.
He noted that the 134.2 million cubic meters of gas received for by Armenia for Yerevan TPP last year is four times lower than the capacity of the Iranian gas pipeline.
“Yerevan TPP receives Iranian gas at a very low price, especially taking into account today’s standards. We must use the opportunity, especially in the context of rise in Russian gas price,” Safaryan told reporters on Thursday.
He believes it is necessary to achieve not only an increase in the supplies, but also of turn Armenia into a transit country.
