The other day, fifth “Amnesie Internationale” event aiming at resisting policy of ХХ century genocides’ negation was held in Marseille. NKR permanent representative to France Hovhannes Gevorgyan, men of art and intellectuals attended the event.

Speaking at the round table, Gevorgyan touched upon mass pogroms of Armenians in Sumgait in 1988, NKR Foreign Ministry press service informed NEWS.am. He noted that being inadequately assessed by international community similar massacres penetrated into other Armenian-settled cities of Azerbaijan and thereafter grew into large-scale war against Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to him, condemnation of genocides and mass pogroms on the political level will prevent new tragedies.
