YEREVAN. – A young resident of Armenian Shatin village died in the river while he was saving his drowning brother, Shatin village official told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
According to the head of Shatin village administration Mamikon Smbatyan, on Monday morning a group of boys went from the village to the Eghegis River to swim. One of the boys, 15-year-old Karen Tigranyan noticed that his younger brother drowns in the river. Karen saved his brother but died himself in the river.
“He saved his brother but couldn’t save himself. The flow throw him on the stones, where the current is fast, river is deep and has many whirlpools. The rescuers and police arrived at the place when it was too late,” the official told.
According to Smbatyan, there are four boys and one girl in the family, who morns the loss. The boy’s father works in Russia at the moment.
