A decision was passed to nominate Rustam Ibrahimbeyov, chairman of Azerbaijan’s opposition National Council and a single candidate, for the presidency.

The Initiative Group of Ibrahimbeyov held a meeting that was attended by party members of the National Council, reports APA news agency of Azerbaijan.

The meeting was held behind closed doors.

Chairman Elman Mammadzadeh of the Executive Committee of Azerbaijan Liberal Party was elected as chairman of the Initiative Group and authorized representative of Ibrahimbeyov at the Central Election Commission (CEC).

The Initiative Group will submit the necessary documents to CEC.
