YEREVAN. – The Prosecutor’s Office of Lori Region opened a criminal case in connection with the failure to carry out professional duties which led to the death of a patient.

Gurgen Kharatyan was taken to infectious diseases hospital in Vanadzor on November 18, 2012 and was diagnosed with toxic shock syndrome, bilateral pneumonia and heart failure. On the same day, the young man died.

An examination has been appointed to determine the cause of death.  According to its results, the doctors were wrong in assessing the state of a patient, the treatment was not carried on time.

Incorrect actions of doctors are in direct causal connection with the death of the patient, the examination revealed. Criminal proceedings were instituted.
