Member of Russia’s Civic Chamber Denis Dvornikov expressed his support to Ukrainian MPs Arsen Avakov and Vilen Shatvoryan who proposed the bill recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

It is dangerous to forget tragic developments, as it may lead to repetition of the events, he told AnalitikaUA.net.

“Official condemnation of the Armenian Genocide is not simply a tribute to the historical memory. It is a shield of history to help prevent terrible events in different parts of the world,” he said.

As informed earlier, a bill on the Armenian Genocide’s recognition was registered on June 6 in the Verkhovna Rada (Supreme Council; i.e., the Parliament) of Ukraine. Rada members Arsen Avakov and Vilen Shatvoryan are the persons behind this law proposal, and the Armenian MFA has expressed its support to this initiative.
