YEREVAN. – “This is an apparent strategic mistake and yet another missed opportunity,” stated political analyst Richard Giragosian, in an interview with 168 Zham daily.

He commented on President Serzh Sargsyan’s announcement on Armenia entering the Customs Union, the daily reports.  

“Richard Giragosian expressed a view that by joining the Customs Union and closing the door before Europe, Armenia again will be entirely dependent upon Russia.

“‘With this decision, the world is turning its back on Armenia,’ Giragosian said.

“He added that Russia respects power, and, ‘this decision to surrender to Russia without preconditions shows the Armenian authorities’ weakness, not strength,’” 168 Zham quotes.
