The third forum of Armenian village communities opened in Jermuk on Thursday.

The forum organized by Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration brought together several dozens of heads of village communities, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture and international agencies.

President Serzh Sargsyan and Premier Tigran Sargsyan are expected to visit the forum that is being held on October 3-5.

Opening the forum, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration Vache Terteryan said they would discuss a wide range of issues.

Not only heads of the communities, but members of the Councils of Elders have been invited, Terteryan said, adding that it is important to increase their role in the local self-government institutions.

The participants will discuss issues on development of small and medium-sized business, tourism, cattle breeding and other problems.
