March 29, German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived in Ankara for a 2-day official visit.

Considering the recent statements by Turkish Premier and German Chancellor, obviously, the visit might be held in a tensed spirit. Merkel spoke against Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s intention to open Turkish lycées in Germany.

The topical issues in Ankara and Istanbul will be Turkey’s privileged partnership instead of full membership to EU offered my Merkel on the threshold of her visit, Turkish media reports.

Struggle against terrorism, Cyprus dispute, Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran’s nuke program will be also discussed.
