US State Department official said upcoming meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders is another positive development.
“In another positive development, President Aliyev of Azerbaijan and President Sargsian of Armenia will meet later this month for the first time in almost two years. They also have it in their power to launch comprehensive settlement talks, and we urge them to be bold and to be creative,” Victoria Nuland said.
Nuland, Assistant Secretary of State for European & Eurasian Affairs, delivered a speech and answered the questions at the Atlantic Council Wednesday in her first public address in office.
Asked about involvements of major powers in the Karabakh peace process, State Department official note that “if there is will and drive in Baku and in Yerevan to get this done, no big neighbor is going to be able to stop it.”
