U.S. will continue broad engagement with Armenia on Euro-Atlantic integration, State Department representative said.

Victoria Nuland, Assistant Secretary, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, presented the developments ahead of the Eastern Partnership summit during the hearings in subcommittee on European Affairs of the Senate Foreign Relations.

The State Department official recalled that  Armenian President Serzh Sargsian announced that Armenia would join the Eurasian Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus “which is incompatible with signing an Association Agreement and a DCFTA.”

“However, both the EU and Armenia remain committed to pursuing a deeper relationship, and they are examining ways to continue this partnership. The United States will also continue broad engagement with Armenia on Euro-Atlantic integration, including in the economic sphere,” she said.
