U.S. welcomes Turkey’s decision to return Ambassador to Washington, State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said at Friday briefing.

“We welcome that decision. Turkey and the United States have a significant strategic relationship,” Crowley told the journalists.

“There’s lots of work that we can jointly accomplish and that work becomes more effective when we have an able interlocutor here in Washington,” he added.

Yesterday, Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkish Ambassador Namik Tan will return to Washington next week before his visit to the U.S.
