The party of Muslim migrants of Germany — “Alliance for Peace and Fairness” expressed intension to participate in the municipal elections in North Rhine–Westphalia province (Germany) held on May 9.
The party is chaired by Haluk Yildiz – the president of Muslim Council in Bonn that gained two seats in the Bonn city council 2009 elections, Deutsche Welle reports. According to the source, there are about 1 million Muslim residents in North Rhine-Westphalia, while a third of them are German citizens and have right to vote.
Yildiz did not rule out possibility that his party might participate in the federal elections as well.
