YEREVAN. – During the voting on тхе bill to postpone the introduction of new pension system, the opposition lacked several votes, Aram Manukyan told reporters.
The fact that 46 deputies voted ‘for’ the bill is a positive indicator, secretary of the Armenian National Congress faction told reporters.
“Of course, we could do more, as two deputies were absent. The voting revealed that the head of the parliamentary faction of the Republican Party of Armenia Galust Sahakyan and his team voted against the bill forced by the authorities and the government, and made their coalition partner, Orinats Yerkir, follow their lead,” Manukyan added.
Meanwhile, the opposition deputy added, four parliamentary factions made a constructive proposal which was rejected.
“If the ruling party was seeking mass protests, it has achieved the goal. We did not want it, we tried to resolve the issue in a parliamentary format,” he emphasized.
