YEREVAN. – Armenian Justice Minister responded to opposition accusations of corruption, saying a minister’s car can be fined in Armenia.

“It is impossible not to see how the state governance and our life is changing,” Hrayr Tovmasyan said.

“Who could imagine 2 or 3 years ago that a minister’s vehicle can be fined?  Unfortunately, I have no evidence that would confirm my words at the moment. But believe me it is so”.

The Minister brought an example of new healthcare system, adding that it of course has certain neglects, but you cannot say that “10 billion was spent in vain.”   

“Hundreds of people underwent heart surgeries free of charge”, he emphasized.

Many of those lying and taking bribes were either convicted or are in custody, Tovmasyan noted.
