Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, or Artsakh, National Assembly (NKR NA) Speaker Ashot Ghulyan on Tuesday presented, at the NKR Representation in Washington, DC, the Artsakh State Award to Armenian Assembly of America Board member Annie Totah.  

Totah was recognized for the award on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the declaration of the NKR’s independence and for her services to Artsakh.

Subsequently, the NKR NA leader met with Congressional Armenian Caucus Co-Chairman Frank Pallone. They discussed the cooperation between US Congress and the NKR parliament as well as the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.   

On the same day in the evening, the Capitol Hill hosted an event devoted to the NKR Independence Referendum and the Constitution Day. 

The program, moderated by Pallone, brought together congress members, a cross-section of the Washington, DC foreign policy community and national, regional, and local leaders of the American-Armenian community.

US House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce delivered opening remarks. The chairman voiced his support for the search for a lasting regional peace, welcomed the resumption of the OSCE negotiations process, and spoke of his hopes for the long term security and prosperity of the people of Artsakh.

Ashot Ghulyan was the keynote speaker at the event. He thanked the US Congress members for their caring and unselfish approach. He also reconfirmed the NKR authorities’ and people’s allegiance to the values of freedom and independence.
