Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan expressed willingness to assist in the introduction in Slovakia, and as a pilot program, of the chess courses being taught at the public schools in Armenia.

Ashotyan noted the aforesaid Thursday at his meeting with Dušan Čaplovič, Education, Science and Sport Minister of Slovakia. 

Welcoming the Ashotyan-led Armenian delegation to Slovakia, Čaplovič expressed the hope that the delegation’s visit will contribute to the development of cooperation in science and education between the two countries.

The Slovak minister added that being a historian by profession, he is well informed of the history of Armenia and the Armenian people and its tragic chapters.  

Stressing that Slovakia is among the countries whose parliaments have recognized and condemned the Armenian Genocide, Ashotyan expressed his gratitude to the Slovak people.  

The Armenian education and science minister also underscored the cooperation between Armenia and Slovakia in higher education and science. 

The interlocutors reflected on the activities that were conducted within the framework of Armenia’s assumption of the Bologna Process Secretariat.  

They also discussed collaboration along the lines of public and vocational education.

At the end of the talk the parties agreed to prepare a memorandum on expanding cooperation in education and science.   

Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan invited his Slovak counterpart to Armenia on a return visit, during which a memorandum of cooperation is expected to be signed.
