Within the framework of the Armenian National Assembly (NA) speaker’s official visit to India, the NA delegation members on Thursday met with Chairman Ananth Kumar of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Parliament of India, and the committee members.  

Kumar underscored the need to deepen the existing ties between the Armenian and Indian parliaments. He noted that such visits and bilateral contacts promote cooperation and relations between the two countries.  

In turn, Artak Zakaryan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, likewise stressed the importance of cooperation between the two parliaments. He stated that the NA delegation’s current visit to India is yet another step toward the continuation of the interparliamentary discourse.

For his part, Arayik Hovhannisyan, Chairman of the NA Armenia-India Friendship Group, noted that the activities of the friendship groups and the active contacts are important in terms of the strengthening of collaboration between the parliaments.          

Ananth Kumar informed that a friendship group with Armenia will be formed in the Indian parliament, too. 

At the ensuing talk the parties underscored the need to deepen cooperation in the international arena, discussed regional matters, and outlined the avenues for further cooperation between Armenia and India.
