YEREVAN. – One of the achievements of Armenia since independence has been the establishment of civil society, UK Ambassador Jonathan Aves said in his dress on UN Human Rights Day.

“When I look back, one of the achievements of Armenia since independence has been the establishment of a lively civil society. I salute the commitment and bravery of the many Armenian human rights defenders who have done so much to bring that about,” says his message posted on the Embassy’s Facebook.

“Britain was last month elected to the UN Human Rights Council, highlighting the international community’s confidence in Britain as a promoter of human rights worldwide.
