YEREVAN. – The EU respects a sovereign right of Armenia on joining Customs Union and will continue providing its assistance in all directions compatible with new commitments of Yerevan, representative of EU delegation said.

Head of Operation Division of EU delegation Mr. Hoa-Binh Adjemian is one of the participants of the “European Integration 2013: EU-Armenia Relations Perspective after the EaP Vilnius Summit” conference that is being held in Yerevan.

The EU will mainly focus on implementation of political, economic and social reforms, improvement or human rights protection and fundamental freedoms, he said. Both EU and Armenia reconfirm readiness to strengthen background of bilateral relations and update the EU-Armenia European Neighbourhood Policy Action Plan.

Adjemian noted that the statement adopted in Vilnius stated sides’ readiness to further cooperation and interaction on human rights, rule of law, effective governance, fight against corruption and strengthening of civil society.
