YEREVAN. – If Ukraine remains committed to its ambitious policy of European integration, the EU’s interest in relation to this region, including Armenia, will be restored to a certain extent, chairman of Yerevan press club believes.

Boris Navasardyan, head of Yerevan Press Club, participated in the “European Integration 2013: EU-Armenia Relations Perspective after the EaP Vilnius Summit” conference that is being held in Yerevan.

“If the process of the final orientation of Ukraine is moved, it will naturally keep Armenia in the shade and can even prevent from clarifying the relations between Armenia and EU, since Ukraine will remain in the spotlight,” Navasardyan emphasized.

If Ukraine remains committed to its policy of European integration, EU will restore its interest towards the region, Navasardyan said, adding that since the Eastern Partnership summit the interest has been reduced.

On November 21 the Ukrainian Cabinet of ministers suspended preparations for signing the Association Agreement with EU.
