YEREVAN. – Eastern Partnership project was a clear bid of European Union to establish political and economic influence on six post-Soviet states, Armenian political analyst Arthur Ghazinyan said during a conference in Yerevan.

“In fact EU made a claim for something owned by Russia and naturally it could not be done easily. We have the situation when values must be opposed to weapons and force,” said Ghazizyan, head of the Center for European Studies.

There were also problems within the countries of the European Union as well as six member states of Eastern Partnership.

“Could EU establish their geopolitical identity and fact of political unity in order to be able to enter such a difficult process and to claim for something that Russia had?” he wonders.

The time showed that despite being an established structure as the center of the value system and as a strong economic entity, the Union experienced problems while establishing geopolitical identity.

In his opinion, if all 28 EU countries adopted a common position on this issue and would be consistent in the implementation of all program items, we would have a completely different situation now.
