YEREVAN. – As of Thursday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) representatives have visited Hakob Injighulyan four times.

Sarah Epprecht, Head of the ICRC Delegation in Armenia, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

To the query as to whether the delegation is in contact with Injighulyan’s relatives, the head of the ICRC delegation responded that they maintain regular ties with them.    

“Our doors are open for Injighulyan’s relatives. We always try to meet them and discuss all issues of concern. We try to be as open with them as possible,” Epprecht stressed.    

She also recalled the importance of correspondence through the ICRC. 

“We continue to assist in the ensuring of communication between Hakob and his family, and we consider this very important,” Sarah Epprecht concluded.

Armenian soldier Hakob Injighulyan (born in 1991) had found himself in the territory under the control of Azerbaijan. According to preliminary information, Injighulyan had turned up there on August 8 at around 3am, while carrying out his military service, by crossing the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR)-Azerbaijan border, and as a result of losing his orientation in the area. He was taken to Azerbaijani capital city Baku the next day. The International Committee of the Red Cross was able to meet with the Armenian prisoners of war on August 20. To note, Injighulyan was made to wear Azerbaijani military uniform and give several interviews.
